Affiliate advertising and marketing and content marketing are joined at the hip. If you want to be a top class affiliate marketer, you need to put out top class content. There’s no way around that.
Even if you’re using paid advertising, you’ll be attempting to get people on your email list. The emails that you send are content. They may contain links to your blogs, reviews, etc.
The crux of the matter is that the majority of people online come looking for either information or entertainment. Only a small percentage of them are ready to instantly place an order. This applies to anything from booking a holiday with flights in a foreign country to buying a case of wine.
Before the purchase, these potential buyers will do their research online. They’ll want to know if the resort they’re staying in has all the amenities they need. They’ll want to see reviews, etc.
If you have a website that shows up when they search for the holiday reviews and you mention how the proximity of the resort to the local watersports park is a plus point, or you show all the different activities they can engage in that’s just a stone’s throw away from the hotel – the visitor will read the content on your site eagerly because it applies to them and their family too.
In most cases, they’ll click on your affiliate links and book the holiday. Now you’d have made an affiliate commission by offering the content that the visitor was looking for. That is how it works.
There are 5 guidelines to note when creating content. Failure to adhere to the tips below will mean that your content marketing falls on deaf ears, and you’ll see low affiliate sales.
Your content should be relevant to the goods that you are promoting. If you’re promoting an outdoor BBQ grill, you may wish to have content on what to look out for when purchasing BBQ grills.
Or how to clean BBQ grills… or even easy clean BBQ grilling techniques to prevent a mess. Whatever the content may be, it must be relevant and on topic.
Your content ought to be interesting enough to hook the readers through the eyeballs and keep them reading to the ultimate word. If your content is tedious and dull, the reader will yawn and click away from the page. That’s your sale gone. Forever!
Nothing is so horrific that it can’t get worse. When visitors go away your site quickly, Google notices this, and you’ll rank poorly in the search engines due to the fact that your site has a high bounce rate and so is deemed not ‘user-friendly’… So, have very interesting content.
Facebook posts on your fan page are content material too. So are the videos on your YouTube channel. But here’s what makes them so powerful – the engagement within the comments sections
Look at the comments and engage back with your audience. The more you get to know them and respond to them, the more they’ll like and trust you. Engagement counts too. PS Reply to every comment even if it is not complimentary. I just say “thanks for your comment” to the trolls.
Your content needs to be new. You’ll have to keep publishing content to stay up-to-date. There’s no point in having a resort review on your website that’s 6 years old when the hotel has already been torn down to make way for a shopping complex.
Always have a content publishing strategy and stay up to date with the times.
Whatever content you publish it must be reliable too. The term ‘fake news’ is being tossed around anywhere these days. You want content that is trustworthy.
People can sense hype and drivel. So, make sure that your content is useful and that will help to sell your affiliate products too.
Stick to the 5 content material creation and marketing tips above. Many marketers are so centered on sales, traffic, and conversions that they neglect the content… that could make or bust them. Don’t make this mistake.
